From our clinics and educational programs, it is natural to reach out to communities not just to treat, but also to prevent disease. In both Nicaragua and Tanzania, we have teamed up with local governments and community groups to address the needs which they have identified.
In Nicaragua, we are collaborating with local groups to produce a radio program to educate remote communities through information sessions, short dramas and call-in sessions.
In Tanzania, through our program, GPN Clean Water, we are aiming to reduce water-borne diseases by promoting solar disinfection of water, a cheap and highly accessible technology. Other locally driven programs address food security, mother and child health and vector-borne diseases such as malaria.
